Volunteers at the Olympic Games |
|
Stemming from their interests of helping each Olympic Games succeed, IOAPA members have been involved in many areas of the Organisation of the Olympic Games as volunteers. Since Athens in 2004, some IOAPA members, with help from our Association, have had the opportunity to access some of the most attractive volunteer positions during the Games. One example is shown by the participation of ten IOAPA members at the Athens Olympic Youth Camp. The Olympic Youth Camp is the official Olympic Education activity held during the Olympic Games. During the camp over 400 youngsters from countries all around the world gathered for a once-in-a-life-time experience, which combined education, culture and sport into an extraordinary and inspiring multicultural event.
IOAPA members have also served in other various positions during the Games in Athens. In addition, the IOAPA has been able to offer its members volunteer positions in many exciting venues. One example of this during the Torino Winter Olympic Games was in the Ice-Hockey venue. The IOAPA has done its best to involve IOAPA members in the organisation of the Beijing Olympic Games. We are currently working to extend volunteer opportunities to Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Information on this regard will soon be sent via the IOAPA Mailgroup.
